ErrorVaultHQ

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ErrorVaultHQ ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit errorvaulthq.com (the "Site").

Information We Collect

Error messages you submit. When you use our search tool, the text you enter is sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude) solely to generate a troubleshooting guide. We do not ask for or require any personal information to use this feature. Please avoid pasting personal information, passwords, or account details into the search box.

Community comments. When you post a comment or reply on our Community page, we store the name you enter, your comment, any GIF you pick, and an optional email address. Your name and comment are shown publicly. Your email address is never shown or shared; it is used only to notify you when someone replies to your comment. Every such email has a "Stop reply notifications" link that turns them off. Your browser remembers your name, email and avatar on your device so you don't have to type them again; you can clear this with "Not you?" above the comment form. To protect the community from spam and abuse, we also store a one-way hash of your IP address with each comment and vote (not the address itself).

Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we may automatically collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site, typically through cookies and analytics tools (see below).

Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve it. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; some site features may not work as intended if you do.

When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner lets you accept, reject or customise non-essential cookies — your choice is remembered and can be changed at any time through the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Google Analytics is loaded only after you accept analytics cookies; if you reject them or later withdraw your consent, it does not run and its cookies are removed.

Advertising

This Site may display advertisements served by third-party advertising companies, including Google AdSense. These companies may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or www.aboutads.info/choices.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or other regions with similar requirements, we will request your consent for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising where required by applicable law.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate this Site:

Data Retention

Error-fix guides generated from submitted error text are stored indefinitely as public pages on the Site, since their purpose is to help future visitors with the same error. We do not intentionally store personal information alongside this content.

Community comments stay on the Site until they are removed. To have your comment or your email address deleted, email us at the address below with the name and approximate date of your comment.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at info@errorvaulthq.com.

Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising and analytics cookies may be considered "sharing" under California law — you can opt out at any time by rejecting non-essential cookies in our cookie banner, or via the browser settings described below. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 16. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@errorvaulthq.com — we will respond within 45 days and will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
